SIBU (Oct 3): The viral video circulating on social media, showing a large crocodile being lifted from the river by a crane, was actually the one previously caught in the waters of Nanga Sap in Tatau on September 27, the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has clarified.

The video, titled ‘Buaya bujang Sibu,’ has been shared over 2,500 times and garnered more than 640 comments at the time of writing, with many viewers speculating that the crocodile was recently captured in Sibu.

In reality, the reptile depicted in the clip was the 5.18-meter crocodile caught by SFC on September 27, believed to be the predator involved in the attack on a young girl in Sungai Tatau on Sep 18.

The animal had since been dissected, and the contents of its stomach, which included several teeth, had been sent to the Department of Chemistry Malaysia for further analysis.
