DayakDaily Writing Competition 4.0: Sarawak FolktalesBy DayakDaily Team
KUCHING, Apr 2: Good news, Sarawakian writers! If you’ve been meaning to put pen to paper but needed a little more time, here’s your chance—the submission deadline for the DayakDaily ‘Sarawak Folklores’ Writing Competition has been extended to April 30.
The extension offers a renewed opportunity for writers, creatives, and culture enthusiasts across Sarawak to bring to life the rich mix of stories passed down through generations, of tales filled with meaning, mystery, and identity.
Whether it’s a legend you grew up hearing, a story shared in a longhouse, or a lesser-known folktale waiting to be rediscovered, participants are encouraged to stretch their creativity and craft compelling narratives that celebrate Sarawak’s unique heritage.
The competition, now in its fourth edition, continues to serve as a platform for preserving and sharing the voices and traditions that define Sarawak, while offering attractive prizes totalling up to RM14,000.
The competition remains exclusively open to Sarawakians. Entries must be written in English, be original, and must not have been previously published on any news portal, website, or social media platform.
Each submission should not exceed 800 words and must be accompanied by at least one (1) original photograph, with a maximum of two (2) photographs. The total file size for all submitted materials must not exceed 1GB.
