The DBNA Serian community building, which is expected to be completed by Feb 13, will serve as a hub for community activities and social development.

KUCHING (Jan 22): Construction on the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Serian community building is expected to be completed by Feb 13, with the project currently at 95 per cent completion.

DBNA Sarawak president Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik said the remaining works involve final finishing touches and the completion of certain components, which are actively being carried out by the contractor.

“We hope the extension granted will be fully utilised to ensure all works meet the specified requirements and quality standards before official handover,” he said, according to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Ik Pahon made the remarks after leading the DBNA Central exco on a special visit to the project site in Serian.

DBNA Serian has been advised to prepare early for the building’s operations once the Occupation Permit (OP) is obtained, expected after mid-February.

Proposals include organising a project handover ceremony involving Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus and convening a DBNA Serian exco meeting to discuss operational management, building security, and canteen operations.

Once completed, the DBNA Serian community building is expected to serve as a key hub for community activities and social development, while strengthening DBNA’s role at the grassroots level.
