KUCHING, Feb 19: Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi has called on Sarawakians not to quarrel among themselves, stressing that unity is crucial in the State’s ongoing efforts to safeguard its rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

In a recent Facebook post, Nanta said politics should be a tool for development, not division.

“Do not quarrel among yourselves. If we cooperate, rural development will be easier and more effective.

“In defending Sarawak’s rights under MA63, we must be united,” he said.

He further said that defending Sarawak’s rights under MA63 requires cooperation across all political lines.

“It is not only about Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS). All parties must come together to support efforts to protect Sarawak’s rights and develop this State.

“Filter your news sources wisely, distinguish between what is true and false, and focus on the work of developing the people,” he added.

Nanta also praised the leadership of Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, noting that the establishment of regional development agencies such as Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA) and Mid-Rajang Regional Development Agency (MiRRDA) has accelerated rural development since 2017.

He said the RM1.5 billion allocation to these agencies reflects the government’s commitment to improving socio-economic conditions for people in Kapit and other rural communities. — DayakDaily
