SIBU (Feb 10): The Lunar New Year festive atmosphere here is building up, with the addition of lanterns at the iconic Al-Qadim Mosque adding to the celebrations.
Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said the move to put up lanterns at the mosque compound reflects Sarawak’s spirit of unity and inclusiveness.
“The festive atmosphere of Lunar New Year is increasingly being felt across Sibu town. Masjid Al Qadim is also joining in the celebration of the Chinese New Year this year by putting up lanterns around the mosque.
“Let us celebrate the Chinese New Year together, regardless of race or religion,” he told The Borneo Post.
