SIBU: The community leaders and village chiefs (KMKK) are advised not to become actively involved in politics.
According to Sibu District officer Khalid Andong, the appointed KMKK should remain objective while carrying out their responsibilities.
“KMKK must stay neutral because everyone under your supervision is your charge. Do not show favouritism just because some did not support your appointment as KMKK.
“Implementation of laws and regulations must be fair and just,” he said at a brief ceremony for the KMKK appointed for the Dudong constituency at the District Office here today (June 13).
He extended his congratulations to all the appointed KMKK and expressed hope that they would fulfill their responsibilities accordingly.
At the ceremony, a total of 99 KMKK were appointed, comprising three community leaders, 13 Kapitans, 82 longhouse chiefs, and a village chief.
Out of this number, four Kapitans, eight longhouse chiefs, and a community leader were newly appointed, while the others were reappointed.
Also present were representative to Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Dudong assemblyman Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, Agatha Ting, representative from Sibu Resident office Haider Kowel Bete and Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) Dudong chairman Datuk Teo Boon Siew.
