KUALA LUMPUR, 25 September: A total of four areas in Sarawak have recorded air pollution index (IPU) readings at unhealthy levels as of 9am this morning, with the Regional Police Headquarters (IPD) Series recording highest readings, at 178.
According to the Malaysian Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal, other areas in the state that recorded unhealthy readings were Kuching (166), Samarahan (165) and Sri Aman (163).
Meanwhile, 61 areas across the country recorded moderate reading levels among them Batu Muda, Kuala Lumpur (73); Kota Kinabalu, Sabah (63); Balik Pulau, Penang (55); and Kangar, Perlis (52), while 3 other regions recorded good readings.
IPU readings of zero to 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and IPUs above 300 are at dangerous levels. - TVS
