FBM KLCI extends winning streak despite seller dominance

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI ended in positive territory on Tuesday, its fifth straight session despite a prevailing dominance by sellers.

At 5pm, the market's key barometer gained 3.13 points or 0.21% to finish at 1,498.83. The index hit an intraday high of 1,503.93.

Sellers led buyers by 605 to 410, while 475 counters traded unchanged. About 6.44 billion shares, valued at RM3.76bil, changed hands.

Among the gainers on Bursa Malaysia, Nestle rose RM1 to RM119, Malaysian Pacific Industries gained 34 sen to RM28.28, Bintulu Port added 33 sen to RM5.60 and United Plantations advanced 30 sen to RM18.50.

Rapid Synergy was the top loser, tumbling RM1.42 to RM23.40, followed by Dutch Lady, which fell 96 sen to RM23.64 and YNH Property, which slid 36 sen to RM3.30.

TWL Holdings was the most actively traded stock. The stock, which saw 255.75 million shares traded, added 0.5 sen to 4.5 sen.

Around the region, MSCI's Asia ex-Japan stock index was marginally lower by 0.01%.

Japan’s Nikkei 225 ended up 1.16% at 33,763.18, while South Korea’s Kospi ended 0.26% lower at 2,561.24.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index closed down 0.21% at 16,190.02.

China’s blue-chip CSI300 index rose 0.2% at 3,292.50, while the Shanghai Composite Index added 0.2% to 2,893.25.
