KUCHING, Mar 1: The Bintulu Civic Centre came alive with colour, culture, and community spirit on Saturday (Feb 28) as the Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) hosted its Chinese New Year Open House, drawing a vibrant multiracial crowd.

According to the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas), the celebration was hosted by PDP president Dato Sri Tiong King Sing and welcomed thousands of visitors who gathered in a warm atmosphere of harmony and festive cheer.

From early on, a steady stream of guests filled the hall, many dressed in traditional attire and festive outfits, reflecting the rich diversity and unique multicultural identity of Sarawak.

The lively ambience was further enhanced by cultural performances and an array of festive delicacies that kept spirits high throughout the event.

A highlight of the celebration saw Tiong—who is also Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture; Bintulu MP; and Dudong assemblyman—joining distinguished guests in a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony before mingling with attendees and posing for photographs, creating memorable moments with the community.

Also present were Minister of Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development, Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom; Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development, Datuk Majang Renggi; Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing, and Local Government, Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil; Deputy Minister of Transport, Datuk Henry Harry Jinep; Baram MP Dato Anyi Ngau; Tanjong Batu assemblyman Johnny Pang Leong Ming; and Jepak assemblyman Iskandar Turkee. — DayakDaily
