SIBU (Dec 27): Programmes and activities that bring people together and create a welcoming environment for residents are always encouraged, said Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting.

“Each entry adds joy and warmth to our public space,” he said in a speech read by councillor Simon Wee at the closing ceremony of the Christmas tree decoration competition at Sibu Town square on Thursday.

Ting said such event encourages interaction, celebrate creativity, and strengthen the sense of togetherness among residents.

“I commend all the participants for your efforts, creativity and your active involvement in taking part in the Christmas trees decoration contest,” he added.

Ting also expressed his appreciation to the judges, church representatives and council officers for their support and commitment in ensuring the success of the event.
