SIBU (Jan 21): A four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle was gutted early today after catching fire near a secondary school along Jalan Deshon here.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said no injuries were reported in the incident, which happened around 4.35am.
“Acting on an emergency call, a team from the Sungai Merah fire station arrived at the location within minutes and immediately commenced firefighting works.
“The operation was wrapped up about an hour later after checks confirmed no danger of the fire reigniting,” the department said in a statement.
Damage to the vehicle was estimated at 90 per cent.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
