Flood-hit Sg Sap residents receive food supplies through multi-agency ops

TATAU (Jan 14): A food aid delivery operation to residents in cut-off areas along Sungai Sap here was successfully carried out on Tuesday, benefitting 251 people from five longhouses.

The operation was conducted through two main trips using a combination of land and river transport to ensure the assistance reached affected communities.

The first trip began at 11am, delivering food supplies to Rumah Rose, Sungai Sap, which is home to 56 residents.

The aid was transported via both land and river routes, with Pasar Lama Jetty serving as the departure point.

The second trip commenced at 2pm and covered four longhouses―Rumah Francis (64 residents), Rumah Jelembai (29), Rumah Charlee (64) and Rumah Apee (38).

Deliveries for this trip also utilised both land and river transport, departing from the Sungai Sap iron bridge.

The operation was supported by several vehicles, including lorries from the Bintulu Development Authority (BDA) and the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a vehicle from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and a lorry belonging to the Sarawak Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPS).

A total of 21 personnel from various agencies were directly involved, comprising representatives from PDRM, the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM), the Welfare Department (JKM), BDA, Bomba,Tatau District Office and UKPS.

Tatau District Administrative Officer Raden Azamry Raden Perhan was also present to oversee and coordinate the operation.
