MIRI (Sept 4): The Form Six Centre (PTE) at the old building of SMK Limbang is expected to commence next year, said deputy minister of Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail.
The new 2025 Form Six session, he said, will be made possible due to the recent completion of its new canteen block and the near completion of its dormitory blocks.
“We hope that this PTE, which has been approved by the state Education Department, will be able to start its operation next year,” he said, adding that this will be the second PTE to be built in the state after the first one in Saratok.
Dr Abdul Rahman said this during a working visit to the project sites at Limbang Town Square and SMK Limbang near here today.
Accompanying him were Limbang Deputy Resident Marie Cotilla Louise @ Rozita Kulai, and Limbang district officer Sulaiman Engal.
Commenting further, the Bukit Kota assemblyman said part of the project was funded by the Northern Regional Development Agency (NRDA).
“There are only a few issues left that need to be resolved, especially the process of obtaining the occupancy permit (OP),” he said, adding that some RM2 million is needed for the centre’s educational equipment and furniture.
Dr Abdul Rahman thus called on NRDA to speed up the process of obtaining the OP to facilitate the handing over of the PTE to the state education department.
“Form Six is akin to pre-university level and I hope this centre will be crucial in producing students with high level of marketability and competitiveness,” he said.
