LAWAS, Oct 8: Four villages across the river in Sundar are set for phased expansion, opening up more space for homes, improved settlements and small-scale businesses based on the needs of each community.

According to a report by TVS, Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project involved Kampung Aru, Kampung Sinampuan, Kampung Sebelah and Kampung Tanjung Katong.

“We will implement the village expansion by providing lots for residents to build houses, while arranging the residential areas more systematically and equipping them with facilities.

“We are implementing a similar project in Trusan through the Land and Survey Department in collaboration with the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA), involving 15 houses,” he said during a working visit to Surau Nurul Rahman in Kampung Sinampuan yesterday (Oct 7).

Awang Tengah said the project would include basic infrastructure and land-filling works to make it easier for residents to build their own homes.

He said the expansion would create more opportunities for residents to develop local economic activities with support from relevant government agencies.

During the visit, he also engaged with residents on suitable locations for the proposed village expansion project. — DayakDaily
