ADVERTISE HERE

KUCHING, Jan 27: Do you know that there is a humble stall at Bandar Baru Samariang (BBS) Commercial Centre off Jalan Sultan Tengah here that sells spicy fried chicken at RM1 per piece?
The Uncle Zee’s RM1 Fried Chicken stall operates just by the roadside from 12.30pm to 5pm daily except on Fridays.
Although a piece of chicken is small, the RM1 price is worth every bite.
Apart from the RM1 fried chicken, the stall also sells ‘Ayam Cheese Leleh’ (cheesy chicken) at RM12 for five pieces.
The stall owner, Muhammad Qawiem Haikal Azizul Azizi, 25, said he ventured into the fried chicken business during the Covid-19 period.
“My family moved from Perlis to Sarawak after my mother, who is a government servant working in the medical field, was transferred here.
“Since I was unemployed then, I decided to operate a stall selling fried chicken beginning in July 2020.
“Prior to that, I spent a lot of time at home experimenting with various versions of fried chicken recipes obtained from the Internet,” he told DayakDaily today.
Although he admitted that selling fried chicken at RM1 per piece is not a lucrative business, he is adamant about maintaining the rate.
“I admit there is not much profit, but it is enough for my family to get by.
“When I set the price at RM1, my intention was to enable everyone to afford the fried chicken. Thus, I don’t mind not earning big money and treat it as a way of ‘bersedekah’ (doing charity),” he added.
Haikal operates the stall with the assistance of his father, Azizul Ariffin, 52. During school holidays, his 16-year-old brother would also lend a hand in the business.
Haikal also hopes to expand his business by opening a second stall at a different location. — DayakDaily
