Tiara Management, a Sarawakian talent management company based in Kuala Lumpur, proudly presents its inaugural Global Supermodel Search 2024, scheduled for tomorrow (October 12) at the Flamingo Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. The event aims to celebrate diversity, inclusivity, and the power of representation in the modelling industry.
A few months ago, the organiser held an online casting to select candidates who will represent Malaysia in various categories.
The requirement is straightforward: contestants must have previously participated in a national pageant or modelling competition.
Five outstanding candidates were recently crowned at the Hotel Olympic Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur.
The candidates are as follows: Ariana A Rahman, 26, of Sarawak, who will compete in the Global Supermodel Malaysia 2024 category; Belle Lwin, 19, of Kuala Lumpur, also in Global Supermodel Malaysia 2024; Sarafina Arisya, 15, of Sarawak in Teen Global Supermodel Malaysia 2024; Airis Marissa, 11, of Terengganu in Little Global Supermodel Malaysia 2024; and Avery Jong, 6, of Sarawak in Mini Global Supermodel Malaysia 2024.
Speaking to Sarawak Tribune, the founder of Tiara Management and event organiser, Nickson Sim, said the competition highlighted the value of individuality by providing a platform for people from various backgrounds to come together and share their love of modelling.
“From young children to adults, contestants have the opportunity to showcase their talents, confidence, and grace.
“In addition to Malaysia, competitors from Australia, Japan, Myanmar, Indonesia, and Kenya are participating in this competition.
“We are thrilled to witness the incredible talent of these young women and girls, as their journey to this stage demonstrates both dedication and courage.
“We look forward to seeing where this competition will take them and are confident that Malaysia’s representatives will shine at the international level,” he said.
Speaking of the challenges, Nickson, a Bidayuh from Lundu, said that since this is the first time the event is being held, he and his team have found it difficult to find competent candidates who genuinely value being Malaysians.
“Although we’ve organised pageants before, this modelling competition has a completely different format.
“People are still uncertain about what to expect. However, everything has been progressing smoothly, as our reputation from previous events has encouraged people to participate.
“As the organiser, I constantly monitor every detail of our setup to ensure that both contestants and guests have the best possible experience.
“We need to show that we are ready to welcome foreign participants, as this competition involves them,” he said.
Nickson went on to explain that a number of events have been scheduled throughout the competition as part of the preparation for the grand finale tomorrow (October 12).
These include photo sessions featuring the candidates’ profiles and a skyline view of the Petronas Twin Towers — better known as KLCC — as well as a modelling workshop led by top Malaysian model Sharwita and influencer Apple Green Luna.
Through the competition, this ambitious man hopes to discover fresh talent in the modelling industry, which is becoming increasingly diverse and offering more opportunities.
“Who knows? We might scout the next world supermodel from this competition,” Nickson noted.
