KUCHING, April 9: The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) has confirmed that an object suspected to be part of space debris was spotted in Sarawak’s airspace two days ago, with investigations ongoing.

In a TVS news, MOSTI said there have been no official reports of the debris being found on land or in waters.

“Based on an initial review of the viral video, the object is believed to possibly be part of space debris. However, further confirmation is still under investigation.

“Monitoring is being actively conducted by the Space Control Division (BPAngkasa) in collaboration with the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA),” MOSTI added in a statement today.

The public is advised not to touch any suspicious objects and to report them immediately to the authorities via the emergency line 999, or directly to BPAngkasa at 03-8885 8685 or [email protected].
