GOF, DVS joint raid nets over 15,000kg of frozen pork products

KUCHING (Feb 10): A joint operation on Monday by the Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) and Department of Veterinary Services (DVS) resulted in the seizure of frozen pork products weighing more than 15,000kg.

Sarawak GOF commander SAC Lim Bak Phai said acting on intelligence gathered, GOF and DVS personnel raided a premises here and detained a 32-year-old local man for further investigations.

“The premises is believed to have been used to store and sell frozen products without valid permits.

“Seized from the premises were 15,756kg of frozen pork products and various meat-processing equipment and cold-storage facilities,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Lim said the total value of seizures is estimated at RM5.25 million.

He added the case has been handed over to DVS Sarawak for further action under Section 9(1) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance 1999.
