KUCHING (Feb 7): Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will hold its first convention since its launch in 2019 on April 19 at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) here.

Its secretary-general Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the decision was proposed by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and discussed during the GPS Supreme Leadership Council (SLC) annual meeting held at the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) headquarters here on Saturday.

“Representatives will indeed be invited from all four GPS component parties. The meeting has yet to decide on the number of delegates to be invited,” he told a press conference after the meeting.

Nanta said a main organising committee has been proposed to coordinate the convention, to be chaired by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, with the presidents of Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS), Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) serving as deputies.
