Hartanah Kenyalang subsidiary secures RM184 mln contract to upgrade Sarawak Stadium

The Sarawak Stadium will undergo a major facelift from February 2026 and is expected to complete by June 2027, ahead of the opening ceremony for SEA Games 2027 which is scheduled to take place in September 2027.

KUCHING (January 25): Hartanah Kenyalang Berhad’s (Hartanah Kenyalang), wholly-owned subsidiary Hartanah Construction Sdn Bhd, has received a letter of award from the Public Works Department Sarawak to repair and upgrade the Sarawak Stadium for a contract sum of RM184.3 million.

The contract period for the repair and upgrade of the stadium is 12 months, effective January 30, 2026 to January 29, 2027.

Hartanah Kenyalang is a building and infrastructure construction company listed on the ACE Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.

In December 2025, Minister for Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak, Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah mentioned that the Malaysian government has agreed to host the opening ceremony of the SEA Games 2027 in Kuching, with the Sarawak Stadium as the chosen venue.

The Sarawak Stadium will undergo a major facelift from February 2026 and is expected to complete by June 2027, ahead of the opening ceremony for SEA Games 2027 which is scheduled to take place in September 2027.

The Sarawak Cabinet has also approved budgets to host the SEA Games 2027 and to upgrade the Sarawak Stadium’s facilities.

Hartanah Kenyalang managing director, Seah Boon Tiat, commented, “We are glad that the Public Works Department has given us an opportunity to participate in the repair and upgrade works of the Sarawak Stadium located at Petra Jaya, Kuching, Sarawak.

“The upgraded stadium will be equipped with modern facilities and equipment which are essential to create conducive conditions to organise the SEA Games 2027 and to uplift Kuching as a preferred location to host more regional sports events in the future.”

Seah noted that tThe award of this contract signifies a major breakthrough for our Company as it once again demonstrates Hartanah Kenyalang’s capability to construct and deliver a wide range of buildings types, spanning from landed properties such as commercial shophouses and dilapidated schools to institutional buildings, including Yayasan International School, the State Archive building and the Sarawak Stadium.
