KUCHING, March 7: Continuous heavy rain this morning caused flooding in several areas of Kuching, including Kampung Gersik in the Petra Jaya area.
Monitoring patrols conducted between 9.30am and 11.30am found that water in Kampung Gersik had risen to knee level but was gradually receding by the time authorities arrived.
Residents were advised to remain alert and to contact the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) if evacuation assistance was needed. As of 11am, no evacuations had taken place, and the situation was reported to be under control.
Other affected areas in Kuching included Lorong 6 Siol Kandis and Jalan Pustaka near Masjid Jamek, where overflowing drains temporarily flooded homes but waters were already receding.

Authorities confirmed that river levels remained normal and no emergency response was required.
In Sadong Jaya, villages including Kampung Ulu Iboi, Kampung Rangawan, and Kampung Terasik experienced continuous light rain.
Bomba reported stable and receding water levels, noting that earlier rises were due to a combination of heavy rainfall for about four hours and high tide conditions.
During patrols, authorities engaged with residents, advising them to stay vigilant and contact relevant agencies should water levels rise again. No evacuations or emergency operations have been reported so far. — DayakDaily
