KUCHING (Jan 3): Hope Place Kuching has delivered essential aid to families displaced by recent floods, starting with those at the Kampung Sinar Budi Baru temporary evacuation centre (PPS) in Batu Kawa.
According to the non-governmental organisation (NGO), the centre housed 44 families, totalling 181 victims, as of Wednesday.
“Being a close collaborator with the social welfare department, we have given some temporary aid to the flood victims at Kampung Sinar Budi Baru PPS on Wednesday,” it said in a statement.
Hope Place also visited several other PPS facilities that began operations on New Year’s Day, including Dewan Surau Nurul Najihin Kpg Stapok, AR Rahman, Taman Malihah, Sg Batu, and SJK Chung Hua Sg Tengah.
The distributed items included critical supplies such as children’s and adult diapers, children’s milk powder, biscuits, and malt drinks.
In addition to supporting evacuees, Hope Place extended its assistance to the state Civil Defence Department (APM), which is actively conducting rescues and transporting people to safety.
Hope Place supplied APM personnel with drinking water, biscuits, and malt drinks to support their round-the-clock efforts during this flood season.
