The house was fully gutted by the flames when Bomba personnel arrived.
SIBU (March 8): A house was completely destroyed in a fire at Lorong Bahagia 5, Kampung Bahagia Jaya, Teku here on Sunday.
A statement from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said it received a distress call at 6.49pm and deployed 19 firefighters from the Sungai Merah and Sibu Central fire stations to the location.
“The fire involved a non-permanent structure house measuring about 30 by 30 square feet, which was already fully destroyed when firefighters arrived at the scene.
“Also destroyed in the incident were a car and a motorcycle,” the statement read.
It added that the fire was brought under control at around 7.20pm, after which overhaul works were carried out to ensure there were no remaining hotspots.
“No victims were reported to have been involved or injured in the incident,” it added.
The cause of the fire and the estimated losses are still under investigation.
