Detainees being led away by enforcement officers.
KUCHING (Jan 17): The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) Sarawak continued its enforcement efforts against immigration offenders with the arrest of 63 foreign nationals during an operation at two construction sites in Padungan here on Friday.
The operation, codenamed Ops Mahir, was carried out by the Kuching Immigration Enforcement Division with the involvement of 31 enforcement officers to curb the presence of foreign nationals working and staying in the country without valid travel documents or passes.
“During the raid, officers conducted thorough inspections and searches at every section of the construction sites to detect foreign workers who attempted to hide or evade arrest,” said JIM Sarawak in a statement.
All those detained were taken to the Immigration Office for further action under the relevant immigration laws.
JIM Sarawak also reaffirmed its commitment to continue intensifying enforcement operations to ensure compliance with immigration regulations, while safeguarding national security and public well-being.
