SERIAN (Feb 20): Residents in Siburan were placed on high alert early this morning after incessant rain since Thursday afternoon led to inundated areas and overflowing drains.

At Lorong 6, Taman Sentah Indah, residents moved their vehicles to a nearby commercial centre located on higher ground as water levels rose rapidly.

Although the rain had slowed by about 2.10am, water continued to gush in and overflow from the drains.

In Taman Duranda Emas, continuous rain since Thursday afternoon kept residents on edge as water levels rose quickly in several parts of the housing estate, inundating roads in the area.

As at 4.30am on Friday, floodwaters were still covering roads within the residential area. Despite the rain easing, some access roads remained submerged.

At around 7.30am, knee-deep floodwater was reported along the road leading to Kampung Batu Gong, prompting monitoring operations by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba).
