KUCHING (Feb 18): The remains of a 29-year-old man believed to have been attacked by a crocodile while fishing at Batang Sadong river in Sadong Jaya have been recovered.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said the body of Mohd Faizal Abdillah was found by fishermen at around 2.22pm, approximately three kilometres from the search-and-rescue (SAR) control post.
“The remains were found intact, although bite marks were visible on the abdomen,” the department said in a statement, adding that the body was brought to the control post at 2.28pm for identification by family members.
The remains were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation, and the SAR operation was concluded at 3pm.
Mohd Faizal, from Kampung Rangawan, was reportedly attacked by a crocodile around 11am yesterday while catching shrimp with a friend as the water level receded.
He was allegedly attacked and dragged away by the reptile while standing waist-deep in the water.
