KUCHING, May 5: Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak is advancing its engineering capabilities through the adoption of water bag technology as a surcharge method for ground treatment works under Package B1 of the Sebuyau–Lingga highway project.
In a post shared on its social media yesterday (May 4), JKR Sarawak highlighted that the innovative technique is being used to improve soil compaction and stabilisation, particularly in areas where ground conditions require more effective treatment before road construction can proceed.
The technical agency emphasised that the approach reflects its commitment to applying modern, efficient engineering solutions tailored to site-specific conditions.
The construction of the road connecting Sebuyau to Lingga, spanning about 30 kilometres, is now in its final stages.By integrating such innovative approaches, JKR Sarawak continues to position itself at the forefront of adopting practical and efficient construction technologies in the development of the State’s road network.
The construction of the road connecting Sebuyau to Lingga, spanning about 30 kilometres, is now in its final stages and is expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two towns to just 30 minutes.
With Lingga Bridge along the route has already been fully completed, it will further enhancing connectivity in Sarawak’s coastal region.
In addition, construction of a second trunk road in the Sebuyau area is also progressing actively as part of broader efforts to strengthen regional connectivity.
The new route will link several major roads, including Simunjan and Betong, while also connecting to the coastal highway, effectively positioning Sebuyau as a key transportation junction. — DayakDaily
