KAPIT: Jocylviera Clarra Joseph has been honoured as the recipient of SMK Kapit’s ‘Tokoh Pelajar’ special award.

The school’s Malay Language Club and Chess Club chairperson was chosen for her exceptional performance in both academic and extracurricular activities.

Jocylviera received the award during school’s Excellent Student Awards (APC) and Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) Session 2023 ceremony on Friday (Jan 26).

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs) Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, who officiated at the ceremony, urged parents to support all school-organised activities to ensure students’ success.

“For instance, parents can show cooperation by attending Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) programmes or meetings when requested.

“This provides motivation and enthusiasm for children to study diligently in their lessons,” he said.

Jamit also commended SMK Kapit’s achievements which had showed improvement annually, particularly in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examinations.

“On another note, I will do my best to contribute to the upgrading of the school facilities,” he said.

Meanwhile, Jocylviera has also participated in several district and state-level competitions and represented Sarawak in the National Speech Competition in Selangor last year.

In addition to the award, she was selected as one of the Best Form 5 Students and received the Best Co-Academic Award alongside Tommy Vianney Berawie.
