Kalaka rep urges swift implementation of electricity projects

ROBAN: Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri has stressed the government’s commitment to ensuring the rapid implementation of the Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF) scheme for the Rural Electricity Supply Project (BELB) across all areas within the Kalaka State Legislative Assembly (DUN).

This initiative aims to provide 24-hour electricity supply to residents, reducing reliance on generators and cutting down on fuel costs.

In a recent interview, Mohamad expressed his earnest desire for the smooth progression of BELB and ALAF projects to benefit residents who have long awaited continuous electricity supply.

“I am dedicated to ensuring that every corner of Kalaka DUN enjoys the convenience of electricity, easing daily activities for residents.

“To achieve this, I maintain constant communication with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) and appointed contractors to ensure project success.”

Mohamad noted the Sarawak government’s Assistance Wiring Scheme (AWS), designed to assist new homeowners with internal wiring, including meter installation, without immediate payment requirements.

“As part of the government’s support, ALAF applicants are encouraged to utilise AWS for internal house wiring, with payment options available through monthly installments included in electricity bills.”

A dialogue with ALAF applicants in Kampung Melayu Roban facilitated discussions on application statuses, procedures, and the interest-free AWS scheme.

Mohamad was represented by Kalaka PBB secretary Gapor Ahmad. The dialogue was conducted by SEB technical executive Jimbai Kajang.

Attendees received detailed explanations on installment payments and measures to prevent fraud by SEB-appointed contractors for internal house wiring.
