KUCHING, April 11: Residents of Kampung Gita Laut are seeking land expansion and road upgrades to address growing needs in the village.
Speaking before the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, the village’s community leader (KK) Othaman Riduan said the requests include developing nearby idle land to expand the village and improve living space for residents.
Othaman Riduan“For the information of YAB Datuk Amar, these are requests from the villagers. They are seeking the expansion of Kampung Gita Laut by utilising nearby idle land located opposite the village.
“This is what the villagers have asked me to help facilitate,” he said when speaking at the Majlis Riang Ria Aidilfitri Peringkat Kampung Gita Laut held at Surau Darul Fadzlillah last night (April 11).
He also said the surau’s management committee is seeking assistance to upgrade its hall and futsal court, citing deteriorating floor conditions.
At the same time, he said there is an urgent need to resurface the main road, as certain stretches are in poor condition and prone to flooding during heavy rain, making it difficult for villagers to travel.
“And there is one more request, Datuk Amar, to resurface the main road in Kampung Gita Laut.
“The road is in poor condition, and certain sections are prone to flooding during heavy rain, making it difficult for residents to pass due to water ponding,” he added.
Fadillah, who is also Petra Jaya MP, attended the event accompanied by his wife Datin Amar Ruziah Tahir.
Also present was Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Tupong branch deputy chairman Dato Zaiedi Suhaili.
The event was organised by the village’s JKKK in collaboration with the PBB branch and the Surau Darul Fadzlillah committee. — DayakDaily
