SIBU (Jan 16): An administrative assistant of a school in Kapit has claimed trial in the Kapit Sessions Court to 24 charges of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving school funds amounting to RM134,582.20.
The 33-year-old entered a plea of not guilty to all charges before Judge Musyiri Peet, who set March 2 for case management.
The court allowed the woman to be released on RM18,000 bail with two sureties.
According to the charges, the accused allegedly committed criminal breach of trust at the school between July 14, 2023 and Jan 4, 2024 amounting to RM134,582.20.
She allegedly misappropriated the money for personal use.
The offence is punishable under Section 408 of the Penal Code, which provides for a sentence of between one year and 14 years in prison, as well caning and a fine.
Deputy public prosecutor Cynthia Emmelda Jerry appeared for the prosecution, while the accused did not have legal representation.
