SIBU (Feb 19): Seasoned golfer Kee Ing Ping fired 62 strokes to claim the Nett Section Group A title at the Lunar New Year Golf Special 2026, held at Sibu Golf Course last weekend.

Finishing second was Stephen Manai with 67 strokes, followed by Mohd Fadhli (69) and Wong Siew Jie (70).

In Nett Section Group B, Yong Huo Wei emerged champion with 62 strokes, ahead of Dinesh Kumar (68), Michael Wee (70) and Mohd Hamdi (70).

In the Gross Section, Ferdinand Siaw topped the leaderboard with 70 strokes, followed by Wong Tung Ann (74), Lee Ka Tung (76) and Kung Teck Lee (78).

Dato Peter Yong (67) won the Senior Section, with Ling Soon Kiong (68), Badrul Zakuan (70) and Cheng Tai Sin (70) completing the top four.

In the Junior Section, Angus Wong was champion, followed by Joel Lee and Aidan Tong. Ling Teck Wang took the Invited Guest Section title, ahead of Tang Sing Chang and Mohd Mustaqeem.

At the closing ceremony, Sibu Golf Club captain Wong Lay Nam expressed heartfelt gratitude to Dato Sri Wong Ing Kee for his unwavering support of the tournament.

“Our club is truly blessed to have such a kind hearted and generous supporter.

“For 25 years, Dato Sri Wong Ing Kee had continuously sponsored the event. This is truly extraordinary. Not many people can commit to something for 25 years without fail,” he said.

Lay Nam also praised club President Wong Pak Cheng for his efforts in advancing golf in Sibu.

“Under the leadership of our president, our working committee has been working very hard to maintain the course in good condition.

“Good results do not happen by accident. It takes teamwork and dedication,” he said.
