Wee distributes ang pau to residents of the Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Kuching Branch during his visit.
KUCHING (Feb 20): Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng brought festive cheer to residents of the Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Kuching Branch, during a visit on Thursday.
Accompanied by Councillor Aaron Tay, Wee spent time engaging with residents in a warm and uplifting atmosphere, reflecting the spirit of compassion and inclusiveness.
As part of the celebration, he presented ang pau to the residents and joined them for a simple lunch of chicken, vegetables, rice, and keropok.
“Festive occasions should be moments of togetherness and joy for everyone, and no one should be left behind during the festive season,” Wee said in a statement.
Having served as an advisor to the Association for 27 years, Wee said the visit symbolised his continued commitment to supporting mental health advocacy and community care.
He added that genuine engagement and social inclusion are essential for fostering confidence, dignity, and emotional well-being among residents.
Wee also extended his appreciation to the Committee of the Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Kuching Branch, as well as the staff and volunteers who work tirelessly to ensure residents’ well-being, rehabilitation, and social integration.
“Their commitment and compassion play a vital role in creating a safe, caring, and supportive environment for those under their care,” he said.
