The lorry and the driver were successfully traced by the police and appropriate action has been taken against him, the police said.
KUCHING (Dec 26): Police have confirmed that action has been taken against the driver of a rigid dumper lorry for obstructing the passage of an ambulance in an incident at KM5 Jalan Sri Aman recently.
Sri Aman district police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said the incident occurred at about 4.10pm on Dec 23, 2025, and later went viral on Facebook via a 28-second video clip.
He said the ambulance was en route from Betong Hospital to Hospital Sri Aman II to transport an emergency patient at the time, with its siren activated and warning lights switched on.
“Following the incident, the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters conducted investigations and successfully traced the lorry driver,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.
Dennis said action was taken against the driver for an offence under the Road Traffic Rules 1959, Rule 9 LN 166/59, for failing to give way to an ambulance, in addition to several other traffic offences.
He added that the driver was also subjected to a urine screening test, which returned a negative result.
