KUCHING (March 15): Efforts are ongoing at the committee level to resolve matters still pending under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), said Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and MA63) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali.
She explained that the committees tasked with addressing the issues are still actively holding discussions to ensure the unresolved matters can be settled through mutual understanding.
“At the Sarawak level, the committees involved are continuing discussions to reach an agreement so that outstanding issues can be resolved. Among the issues still under discussion include the formula for the special grant under Article 112D.
“However, I am confident negotiations would eventually lead to a mutually beneficial outcome. What is important is reaching a consensus where we can achieve a win-win situation. I believe all parties will be satisfied in the end,” she told reporters yesterday when asked on the progress of MA63-related discussions following Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s recent visit to Sarawak.
She also clarified that the prime minister’s trip focused primarily on discussions related to Sarawak’s development instead of MA63.
Earlier, Sharifah Hasidah launched the ‘Cahya Prihatin Saberkas Samariang 2026’ programme at Boulevard Shopping Mall here.
Organised by the Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Samariang branch, the event saw 50 children of staff members brought on a shopping trip at Emart, with each receiving RM150 in vouchers to purchase items of their choice in preparation for the coming Hari Raya celebration.
