KUCHING: Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Datuk Seri Mohammad Ab Rahman paid his first courtesy call on Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar at the Astana Negeri Sarawak today.
The visit was held to formally extend his congratulations to Wan Junaidi on his appointment as the 8th Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, which took place on Jan 26.
During the meeting, Mohammad briefed Wan Junaidi on the latest developments on Malaysian Armed Forces’ (MAF’s) operations and deployments in Sarawak.
“Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi shared valuable insights into the situation in Sarawak, pointing out specific areas that may require further attention and support from ATM.
“This is my first opportunity to meet with him in my capacity as the Chief of the Armed Forces, and it was an honour to discuss matters concerning Sarawak’s security and welfare,” Mohammad told the media after the visit.
The general’s wife, Puan Sri Datin Seri Ramlah Dawi, also accompanied him, along with key military figures including the Commander of the Eastern Field Army Lieutenant General Datuk Mohd Sofi Md Lepi and wife Datin Ernie Irawati Rosli, as well as Assistant Chief of Staff for Personnel Services Major General Datuk Mohd Nizam Jaffar.
Mohammad also took the opportunity to extend his best wishes to Wan Junaidi ahead of his upcoming birthday, which will be celebrated in the next few days.
