KUCHING (Oct 4): The Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) will be holding a ‘Money and Me’ financial literacy programme at the Sarawak Islamic Information Centre (SIIC) here at 8am this Oct 5.

MFPC Sarawak Chapter chairman KC Chang said the programme aims to empower the public, particularly the youths, on better financial management and provide insights into personal finance fundamentals, with focus on assets protection, accumulation, management and distribution.

“This programme is supported by the Financial Education Network, an inter-agency group co-chaired by Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia, with members comprising Education Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia, Employees Provident Fund, Credit Counselling and Debt Management Agency (AKPK) and Permodalan Nasional Berhad,” he said in a statement.

MFPC, in collaboration with Bank Negara Malaysia and Securities Commission Malaysia, Finance Ministry, Education Ministry, Youth and Sports Ministry, and the Malaysian Youth Council will also be organising free financial planning consultations throughout the year, he added.

Chang and his delegation paid a courtesy call on Kuching South mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng at the Kuching South City Council office premises here on Wednesday to extend an invitation to the latter to officiate at the event’s opening ceremony this Saturday.
