The suspected SUV which was involved in the hit-and-run accident.
KUCHING (Feb 9): Police have arrested a 49-year-old man in connection with a hit-and-run case that occurred on Sunday morning.
Confirming the arrest, Sri Aman district police chief Supt Dennis Bunyam said the suspect surrendered himself at the Sri Aman District Police Headquarters.
“Also seized from the suspect was an SUV for further investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” he said in a statement on Monday evening.
In a statement yesterday, Dennis said the hit-and-run occurred at 4.30am at Kilometre 7, Jalan Sri Aman, when the driver of a compact car had just finished changing his tyre.
It is believed that an unidentified vehicle hit him and fled the scene.
The man died while receiving treatment at Sri Aman Hospital, while his wife sustained serious injuries, he said.
