Man dies after pickup collides with stationary trailer frame in Sibu

SIBU (Feb 16): A 41-year-old man was killed after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a stationary trailer frame along Jalan Ulu Lanang here at about 1.59am today.

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said initial investigations found that the victim was travelling from the town centre towards Lorong Then Kung Shuk 2 when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the parked trailer frame.

“As a result of the collision, the driver sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene,” he said in a statement.

Zulkipli added that the accident caused extensive damage to the front portion of the pickup truck.

He said police have opened an investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
