MIRI (Feb 11): A 32-year-old man is feared drowned after he fell into the Miri River from the Lutong Bridge this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said in a statement that it received a distress call regarding the incident at 1.19pm.
“Initial information from the operations commander indicated that an adult male had fallen into the river,” it added.
Bomba said firefighters are currently coordinating with the police to obtain further details and will proceed with a search and rescue (SAR) operation at the scene.
The department said preliminary information suggested that the victim had mental health issues.
