KUCHING (Oct 4): A 51-year-old man was injured after his multipurpose vehicle (MPV) crashed into the back of a lorry at Bukit Rasau, Jalan Serian-Sri Aman early today.
The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said a report on the incident was received at 4.30am.
Serian fire station personnel were despatched to the scene.
“The incident involved an MPV that crashed into the back of a 10-tonne lorry. Both vehicles were heading in the same direction towards Serian town,” Bomba said in a statement.
“Due to the incident, the front part of the MPV became lodged underneath the back of the lorry.”
Bomba said the man was pinned in the driver’s seat and firefighters had to use a rescue tool to extricate him.
The driver was then brought to Serian Hospital.
The lorry driver did not sustain any physical injuries.
Firefighters conducted cleanup work at the accident scene and completed the operation at 5.33am.
