KUCHING, Oct 1: A 29-year-old man was jailed for 10 months by the Magistrate’s Court today for climbing the exterior of a printing company to spy on a former female colleague while she was using the toilet.

The accused pleaded guilty before Magistrate Ling Hui Chuan to a charge under Section 509 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum five-year jail term, a fine, or both.

The offence occurred at about 6.40pm on Sept 24 at a hardcover printing and binding company along Jalan Stutong.

The 36-year-old woman was using the toilet when she spotted the accused at the window. He fled after realising he had been seen.

She lodged a police report, and the accused was arrested on Sept 28.

CCTV footage showed him climbing the building, making his way towards the toilet and peering through the window.

He later admitted to police that he had committed the offence for sexual gratification.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Afiq Safly Nor Kazly prosecuted, while the accused was unrepresented. — DayakDaily
