MIRI (Nov 3): Maqhimage Academy staged a remarkable ‘Fantasy Makeup Show’ last Saturday evening, at Permaisuri Imperial City Mall here during the Miri Trade Fair (Mitraf) 28.
The event showcased the extraordinary work of professional makeup artists, with themes including Blue Butterfly Illusion; Jade Waist Lady; Lion King; Red Jewel Queen; The Rainbow Fairy; Emerald Shadow; and Beauty of the Sunset.
In admiration, the audience expressed their amazement for the students’ meticulous preparation for the makeup show, demonstrating Maqhimage Academy’s commitment to excellence as well as the students’ quality of skill.
Maqhimage Academy training director cum executive principal Johnny Chin expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Miri community, the students’ families, and the graduating class.
“Since the academy’s establishment in 2016, Maqhimage Academy has been dedicated to providing high-quality education in the makeup and beauty industry. Over the past nine years, it has established itself as a renowned local institution,” said Chin in a recent statement.
In 2025, the academy will celebrate its 10th anniversary, a milestone built upon Chin’s deep passion for quality education, as supported by his 18 years of experience in the industry.
Maqhimage Academy aims to nurture local talent, and is exploring partnerships with educational institutions to build a professional makeup school unique to Miri, with additional plans to expand into bachelor’s degree courses.
“We plan to partner with more international institutions to introduce the latest beauty technology and teaching resources, enhancing the overall education quality,” said Chin.
Meanwhile, local beauty queen Kimi Wong expressed her gratitude for being invited to grace the event by Chin as one of the makeup show’s model.
“Johnny Chin is not only a makeup coach for beauty pageants but also an internationally recognised makeup artist and judge. Under his brilliant leadership, Maqhimage Academy has nurtured numerous students who have successfully ventured abroad,” said Wong.
Maqhimage Academy has grown into a key player in training professional makeup and beauty talents in Miri. Looking ahead, the academy remains committed to advancing local makeup education, providing high-quality opportunities for young people aspiring to enter the beauty industry.
