Marudi organisations get MRP grants totalling RM581,500

MIRI (Jan 20): A total of 48 organisations in Marudi have received minor rural projects (MRP) amounting to RM581,500.

The longhouses, churches, mosque, and parent–teacher association received the grants from Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil, who is the constituency’s assemblyman.

In his speech, Penguang called on village security and development committees (JKKK) to uphold high standards of integrity in the management of the funds.

“The JKKK must ensure that the grants provided are utilised for the collective benefit of longhouse residents,” he said.

Penguang also reminded villagers of the need to care for the environment and maintain cleanliness by disposing of rubbish at designated sites, as well as separating recyclable items from household waste.

He further encouraged JKKK and villagers to work together through gotong-royong activities to keep their villages clean.

Among the recipients were Rumah Ngumbang, Sungai Laong Atas; Rumah Jampang, Sungai Tapang Peking; and Rumah Dandi, Sungai Laong Atas; which each received RM30,000 for projects in their respective villages.

Other longhouses, namely Rumah Peter Benang, Sungai Bakas; Rumah Paree, Sungai Embit Malang; Rumah KK Ismail, Long Marigam; Rumah Joshua, Sungai Malang; Rumah Amit, Sungai Sega, Sungai Lutong; Rumah Apol, Sungai Liam Libau; Rumah Arik, Sungai Mallang Asal; Rumah Thomas Tan, Sungai Temam; Rumah Ubak, Sungai Kelabit Atas; Rumah Jackie, Sungai Labau Bukit Tinggi; and Rumah Suma, Sungai Biar, each received RM10,000.

The Beluru Roman Catholic Church, Long Jegan Catholic Church, and Beluru Al-Munir Mosque were each allocated RM10,000.
