Maurien’s might mows down Melaka

BINTULU: Sarawak’s Maurien Hii Sie Lin edged Melaka’s Zuhrotunnisak Nisak in a thrilling 13-11 win to advance to the final of the 48kg to 51kg Muay Thai female category.

The home crowd roared as Maurien, clad in blue, gradually wore down her opponent.

Leveraging the enthusiastic support, she managed to exhaust Zuhrotunnisak and gain the upper hand towards the end of the third round.

Despite a valiant effort from Zuhrotunnisak, who scored four points in the final round, Maurien held her nerve to clinch the victory.

The first round ended in a 4-4 draw, before Maurien surged ahead with an 11-7 win in the second.

Maurien’s calm and focused demeanour throughout the match was evident as she steadily progressed towards her goal of reaching the final.
