KUCHING (Feb 1): The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) has extended its 50 per cent discount for overdue parking compounds until March this year.
Kuching South Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said individuals who have yet to clear their outstanding parking bills are being given an extended grace period before the council takes legal action.
“MBKS will issue notices to those who have not settled their overdue parking payments. We are giving them this opportunity to pay before any legal action,” he said during his Facebook live session ‘Shall WEE Talk’ on Saturday.
Wee urged those involved to take advantage of the extended grace period instead of delaying further.
“Take this chance to pay overdue parking compounds before we take legal action,” he said.
According to the mayor, this discount offer was extended in view of the forthcoming Chinese New Year.
He said MBKS is taking the initiative to encourage the public to clear overdue payments rather than face legal action.
He said vehicle owners can also make enquiries at the MBKS service counter by providing their vehicle registration number to check the overdue amount.
“Do not further delay your overdue payment, failing which you will face legal action,” he added.
In October last year, MBKS offered the same 50 per cent discount to encourage individuals to settle their overdue parking compounds.
