KUCHING, Mar 2: Taman Sahabat will extend its operating hours until midnight on Mar 3 in conjunction with the Chap Goh Mei celebration, allowing the public more time to enjoy the festive atmosphere and decorative light displays marking the fifteenth and final day of Chinese New Year.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng said the special extension aims to give families and visitors the opportunity to spend quality time together at the park during the meaningful occasion.
“Chap Goh Mei is a time for togetherness, joy and appreciation. By extending the park’s opening hours, we hope families can take a leisurely evening stroll, enjoy the cool night air, and admire the park enhanced with stunning decorative light displays with their loved ones,” he said in a recent statement.
Well known for its scenic lake, landscaped gardens and tranquil surroundings, the park has been adorned with attractive decorative lights for the festive season. The extended hours are also intended to provide residents with more opportunities to capture photographs and create memorable moments with family and friends.
Wee reminded visitors to observe park regulations, maintain cleanliness and prioritise safety while enjoying the facilities. Members of the public are encouraged to visit the park and take part in the Chap Goh Mei festivities in a safe, respectful and harmonious manner. — DayakDaily
