KUCHING, Oct 5: The Kuching South City Council (MBKS) issued over 100 letters of demand last week through its legal representatives to recover outstanding payments from parking compounds within its jurisdiction.
MBKS Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng urged motorists to take advantage of the extended 50 per cent discount period, which is now available until Dec 13, 2024, to settle their outstanding parking compounds.
“Those who have received a letter of demand should settle their payments at the council’s counter to benefit from the 50 per cent discount as soon as possible,” he said during his ShallWeeTalk live session today.
Wee reiterated the importance of addressing the parking fines before any legal action is taken.
“Next week, we will issue another 100 letters of demand, so we hope everyone will play their part,” he added.
The 50 per cent discount on parking fines, introduced to commemorate the 36th anniversary of Kuching City, was initially set to expire on Sept 30.
With the extension until December, Wee reminded motorists that this is a rare opportunity for savings, advising them not to wait until it is too late. — DayakDaily
