BINTANGOR (Jan 18): The Meradong District Disaster Agency will prepare a detailed report on the landslide incident that occurred at Rumah Dipa, Sungai Lemayong to facilitate further assessment and follow-up actions to address the situation.
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said the move is crucial to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the incident and to determine appropriate short-term and long-term measures to safeguard residents in the affected area.
He made the remarks during a visit to the landslide site at Rumah Dipa, on Saturday, accompanied by officers from the Meradong District Disaster Agency.
During the briefing, Ding was informed about the causes of the landslide, the extent of the damage, and the ongoing risks.
He noted that the site visit provided valuable insight and would help guide the necessary follow-up actions to reduce the risk of recurring disasters.
“Several residential houses have been affected, and the unstable slope conditions have raised concerns over the long-term safety of the community in the area,” he said.
Ding emphasised that close cooperation among relevant agencies is vital in formulating both short-term and long-term solutions, including proposed mitigation works and assistance for affected residents.
Also present were Wong Soon Mee from the Sarikei parliamentary service centre, Meradong police chief DSP Tansli Mering, and Ting Kai Siang from the Meradong District Office.
