Methodist Pilley Institute Sibu invites applications for nursing diploma programme

SIBU (March 20): Methodist Pilley Institute (MPI) has opened registration for its Diploma in Nursing programme, with an Open Day scheduled on March 28 to provide prospective students with insights into the course and career opportunities in healthcare.

The three-year programme will commence on April 27 and is open to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers who meet the minimum credit requirements in Bahasa Melayu, Mathematics, and Science, as well as a pass in English and an additional subject of their choice.

MPI’s Health Sciences Department head Tang Yea Hung said full scholarships are available for eligible candidates, with successful applicants also entitled to a fixed monthly allowance, subject to interviews and sponsorship terms.

Applicants may also apply for the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN) loan.

Tang said the programme combines classroom learning, simulation-based training and clinical placements at government hospitals every semester, ensuring students are job-ready upon graduation.

“Students will start with fundamental knowledge of nursing in the classroom and then they will practise in the simulation laboratory here at MPI,” she said, noting that the students will go for clinical placement at government hospitals every semester.

“Graduates will be eligible to register as nurses and pursue careers in public or private hospitals, clinics and other healthcare institutions.”

The diploma is accredited by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and recognised by the Malaysian Nursing Board (MNB), with students required to pass a health screening prior to enrolment.

Prospective students are encouraged to attend the MPI Open Day from 9am to 3pm this March 28, and to bring along copies of their birth certificates, SPM or Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) results or forecast results, identification cards, school leaving certificates, and two passport-sized photos.

Information on scholarships, loans and programme pathways will also be provided on the open day.

Other programmes available at MPI include the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Foundation in Accountancy, Diploma in Accounting, Diploma in Taxation, Diploma in Social Work, Diploma in Business Management, Diploma in Computer Science, Diploma in Early Childhood Education, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Finance and Investment, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) in Accounting, Bachelor of Early Childhood Education (Hons), Malaysian University English Test (MUET) and Intensive English.
